
Akira Kurosawa was a visionary Japanese director, as influential to film as an Orson Welles or Martin Scorsese. If you haven't seen his films, you may have seen the ones inspired by his, like The Magnificent Seven (Seven Samurai) or Star Wars (The Hidden Fortress) Criteron has gathered 25 of his films (including 4 never released before on DVD), plus an illustrated book and essays. Criteron is known for lovingly restoring classic cinema, and Akira Kurosawa is certainly deserving of such treatment.
He has a career spanning over 50 years, many of his landmark films featuring actor Toshiro Mifune, with such classics as Yojimbo, Rashomon, and Seven Samurai.
It's a pricey collection, but if you haven't experienced his films these discs are probably the ones to see them on.
